- Freedom is the basic characteristic of human existence and essence. As the German philosopher Hegel wrote: "Freedom is a recognized need." Different social groups occupy different positions in society, which is determined by unequal rights and privileges, responsibilities and duties, property and income, attitudes toward authority and influence among the members of a community, and subsequently a different number of legal freedom.
